Garage and driveway

A charger where you park

Most houses in Austin have the panel in the garage or on an outside wall, which makes the run short. When it is not, the package says how far it goes.

We run conduit from the panel to the spot you pick, add a 50-amp breaker and finish with an outlet or a hardwired connection. You choose the charger.

Which package it usually is

  • Attached garage, panel inside: the garage wall package

  • Panel on the far side of the house: the long run package

  • Detached garage, carport or a post in the driveway: the driveway package

Signs you are ready

Four things worth knowing before the survey

  • Where the panel is

A photo with the door open is the quickest way to the right package.

  • Where the charge port is

Cars differ. Park where you usually do and note which side the port is on.

  • How far you drive

A short daily drive can charge overnight on a smaller circuit.

  • What else is coming

A heat pump, a hot tub or a second car changes the load check.

Garage and driveway installs, answered

A plug-in outlet or a hardwired charger?

Both are in every package. A 50-amp outlet lets you take the charger with you or swap it later. Hardwiring suits a charger that stays put, or one that needs a bigger breaker. The comparison on the home page has the details.

How long does an install take?

A garage install is one visit. The inspection is booked with the city, so its date is not ours to promise. We tell you the date as soon as the city gives it.

What is not in a package?

The charger itself, drywall repair and paint, a panel upgrade, and a trench through rock, concrete or roots. The quote lists each one that applies to your house, with a price or with the words not needed.

Which charger should I buy?

One your car's maker or the utility's list supports, and one whose amp rating matches the breaker in your package. Bring us the model before you order it, and we check it against the circuit. We install chargers you buy, and can order one for you at our cost.
